Gardeners celebrated the benefits and beauty of growing during an awards ceremony held on Aug. 25. More than 50 gardens were entered in this year's contest which included residents from Pottstown and Boyertown. The contest will open again in the spring of 2020. Spring into action! The Home Garden Contest is the time to get out, be more active, and use your green thumb to possibly win a little extra "green" for yourself! It's open to all homeowners and renters of the Boroughs of Boyertown and Pottstown. The 2019 Home Garden Contest featured six categories for both new and experienced gardeners. There was even a category for kids! So, if you're ready to bring fresh, new life and beauty to your community, then we say ... Grow For It!

- Suzanne Frain of Boyertown
In 2017, Suzanne won first place in the Bees & Butterflies garden category which came with a $200 cash prize. She said she really enjoys the peaceful environment of her garden especially after a stressful day.
“This was so much fun. We really enjoyed it.”
- Laura Wright of Pottstown
Laura's daughter, 5-year-old Lily-Anne, came in 2nd place in 2018 for the junior garden category taking home $75. Laura said the contest was exactly the motivation they needed to start gardening as a family.
